Lofoten part 1

I went to northern Northern Norway this summer. It was the first proper trip to this amazing part of the country since the being 8 months on Andøya back in 1993 and a later short visit to Tromsø. It was a family holiday but there were also some short glimpses of time to do some photography…. The main goal and area of the trip was Lofoten, but travel up north and the return along Helgelandskysten was also a part of it.

On the way north the weather was really dark, grim and wet. So I got nothing special from that drive apart from this shot of Majavatn. It turned out nice and moody I think. The massive montains in the background was visible jut in short periods and stayed for the most in the fog and mist.

We stayed a few days in Bodø which was really grey and wet days too. Here are a couple of photographs from the Bodø area.

During the 5 hour boat trip to Lofoten the weather finally changed for the better which was a about time to be fair. The weather changes fast in Lotoen so it wa really important to make the most of the two following days in. We planned a few mountain hikes and spots and see the midnight sun on the north side of Lofoten

After some time on Rambergsanda in the sun, the rest of the evening was spent on Skagsanden beach area. Flagstadøya. The weather was fantastic and the midnight sun was a amazing sight. Some more clouds would have added to the photos but can`t complain about that having rain, mist and zero visibility for the first 4-5 days

Some mountain in daylight

The nxt day we just sat at out hut/ rorbu in Hamnøya enjoying the views. The hut was literally in the sea and surrounden by salt water and mountain everywhere. We did a late night hike to Reinebringen and the view and light turned to to be quite epic. We were on the mountain for hours and watched the light develop and change for the better constantly. This one is shot quite early in the evening and showcase the epicness of this place.

All these photo are shot from more or less the same spot and the evening progressed until after midnight

We could have stayed all night but had to return. This was the view to west

This last photos are of Reine and the mountains in Reinefjorden. Pretty amazing place.

So these were a few photos from the two first days in Lofoten. The next day turned out to be quite different, rain, huge waves and colours in storm clouds. It other words the conditions to die for. Stay tunes for more of that later!
