My year as a landscape photographer
I thought I make a blog post about the photos I like the best from the last year. For me the photos are all about the story behind. It`s difficult to pick the right photos so I will link to relevant blog posts and to my new youtube channel which could use some help ;)
This first photo is from january and is shot in local area. I think it got the winter vibes and showcases the harsh cold of january combined with that winter light. It is shot at 175 mm with my Nikon Z 24-200 lense.
This next photo is also from january and shot in my local area. I was chasing the light and fog to try and capture that backlit and diffused light which doesnt happen very often here. The woodland wasnt the nicest but its all about the light, cold and dark tones
Here are 4 more potos from january and february and they are all shot in my local area. I hike a lot in this area when the weather conditions is at its best. For me thats a combination of low temperatures, sea fog, low clouds combined with light
This next to photos are from my first proper hike of the year and wild camping in winter conditions. I had one night in a tent 8 kilometers into the depths of Rondane National Park. It was a new experience, very cold but I got some amazing views, sunset and sunrise. The first photo is from the massive Rondeslottet, 2178 m. The light and the colours in the clouds were fantastic
The next photo is from Jotunheimen National Park in april. I had a couple of night at a place with instant access to the surrounding mountains. This one is shot to the west of Fanaråken and Hurrungane 6.26 am. I used my then brand new Z 24- 120 lense at 120 mm.
Here is a link to a blog post from that trip
In may I had the opportunity to combine a work trip with exploring new areas and locations for photography. I visited and wild camped in several new locations such as Gygrestolen and Tromøya. I set off 1 am and the first location was Bøkeskogen in Larvik. The weather forecast said fog and light, but it was a bummer. There was no fog at all and when it arrived later in the day, it was just in the outskirts of the woodland. Anyway this is a shot when the light was quite nice
This next shot is of the sunrise at the peak near Gygrestolen. I hiked all the way to the top and wild camped overnight.
Next up was a night in tent at Tromøya. The small island has nice woodlands with beech and oak which are quite exotic for me who lives in an area with mostly norway spruce and birch. I wild camped on some sea cliffs next to one beach
The first photo is shot right next to my tent. Im using the Nikon Z 14-30 lense with Kase polariser and neutral density filters to get a 10 sec exposure.
The great light lasted for some hours due to the clouds and misty horizon. The sea was so calm and this is a 8 sec exposure
The next photo is from one of the woodlands on the island. I didnt get the fog but the rain and mist enhanced the overall mood. The greens were very vibrant due to the damp conditions and I used the Kase polariser to enhance it even more
The next photo is from a local location I have explored a few times now. Its Korpreiret which is a small canyon with a lots of waterfalls and steep drops down to the river. The light and mood were fantastic that afternoon
Here is another photo from the same session which translates the conditions in a good way I think
Next up is a photo from july. It was a misty and beautiful morning with things to shoot everywhere. If you look really closely you might spot the largest wild animal in Norway
In early july I also had one great road trip over three day. I wild camped in three different locations. The first one was in Ørsta close to Molladalen.
You can read all about that here
And here is a link to a video I made from that first day of the trip
I then went to the next location which was Utladalen and Vettisfossen. When I arrived it was pouring down so I decided to skip the tent and sleep in the back of the car, which was surprisingly comfortable…;)
I got loads of photos and video from that hike, but here is one shot that I like. Its 14, 4 mm and 1/6 sec exposure. The valley was in the shadow but the light lit up the water spray from Vettisfossen as you only see parts of in this frame. Its the largest unregulated waterfall in Norway with a vertical drop of 275 m
The next location was in the western parts of Jotunheimen, by Koldedalsvatnet. I got a nice sunset and a fantastic sunrise. Here is one shot from that location
The last stop on the road trip was this well known waterfall in Hemsedal, Rjukandefossen. I got just the right and moody conditions for this location I think. I used the 24-120 lense at 24 mm, 0, 5 sec exposure
Next up was a family holiday on Mallorca. I visited the ususal suspects and got some great light and photos.

In august and september I had a few great trips to Rondane and Jotunheimen again. This next is from Døråldalen in Rondane.
You can see some of this trip in the start of this video
Next was a wild camp in Rondane. I pitched the tent at about 1800 m and had a fantastic night in the wilderness of Jotunheimen
Here is a video from that trip
The first photo is from the sunrise and I got this amazing fog inversion
This is a shot during blue hour just before sunrise. Its not often one gets this kind of framing in landscape photography
Later in september I had a maybe even better wild camp experience in Jotunheimen . This time I wild camped near Besseggen and it was all a bit unplanned. I was lucky to find a couple of square meters to pitch the tent amoungst all the rocks just before it god dark and really cold

Next up was my final night in tent in 2023. I was back in Rondane and had a great night and conditions, especially the next morning when the fog came rolling in some time after sunrise
Here a blog post from that trip
Here is a video from that trip
In october I had one night in a cabin in Rondane and had the first preview of winter… It was bit of a surprise and I managed to get stuck with the car in the snow on the moutain road. Thats another story, but I got some help by a local farmer in the end…
I got loads of photos from my local area in november and december.
Here are some of them
And here is a video I made from 23th december
Here is shot I got during the christmas period. I was lucky with combining the first light of the day on this local archway and with Bambi posing in the frame
And here are 3 photos from the last few days :)
